Brunch is like a lifestyle in Dallas. Whether the restaurant boasts a to die for brunch menu AND/or the endless mimosas special, there won’t be a dry seat in the house. More often than not, I find myself at some new joint for some good eats. I absolutely love breakfast foods. I could eat it for dinner. Something about a perfectly ratio balanced plate of eggs, bacon, sausage links, potatoes, and all the other goodies that gives me butterflies. Or maybe that’s just my stomach grumbling…

On this particular morning, none of my go to places were really calling to me. So I decided to check out The Libertine on lower Greenville. I’ve heard so many people rave about the brunch and it’s made it on the list of best brunch spots in Dallas and I figured it’ll do.

Considering this was my first experience, I wasn’t impressed. With anything. Super sad. As much as I love trying new places and am usually excited, every now and then you go to that place with such great hype, only to walk out disappointed. The service, although very nice, took longer than expected and the food came out wanting. When you hear a crabby take on the eggs benedict that is already a very rich dish, you expect lots of flavor. The gooey egg and the hollandaise sauce and now with that added crab meat…I was salivated during my entire 30 min wait for food. Both the Crab Benedict and Cajun Benedict weren’t bad, but it felt like something was missing. I guess you could say it was satisfying enough, but it definitely isn’t a place that will come to mind instantly the next time I am hankering for brunch.
